Planning a really sweet honeymoon trip to a special faraway land where it would be only you, your spouse and miles and miles of spectacular sights? Well, that special place may not be that far away than you think it to be. Welcome to Austria, a land filled with history, adventure, fun and of course, loads of love!

There’s so much to do in Austria that you would never notice the time fly by. From skiing on some of the best slopes in the world, paragliding, bungee jumping off icy glaciers, water skiing and wind surfing to visiting historical castles and landmarks, Austria has something to offer for every kind of traveler, especially honeymooners!

The country is surrounded by the Alpine mountain range to the south and east which make the winter seasons wonderful times to visit the country. The best time to visit this snowy dream land would be between the months of November to April when the entire country is blanketed by snow and is at its cheery best.

The Vienna International Airport caters to both domestic and international flights. The best way to explore the entire country would be by cars that can be rented out for a nominal charge. Lodging is not a concern as there are plenty of upscale boutiques and standard hotels that offer quality accommodation and dining options for their guests.

If you are interested in visiting Austria, plan your trip around the Christmas season which will enable you to catch a glimpse of the world famous Christmas Market in Vienna. The Belvedere Palace is also not to be missed out and houses two different museums at the ground level which showcase several very rare exhibits.

A visit to Austria would never be complete without visiting its historic cities; and one such city that should be in your list of “must visit places” is Salzburg. Also called as the “Rome of the North”, the city of Salzburg, though small, makes up for its popularity with the large number of cathedrals present within its perimeter.

Some of the other notable places to visit in Salzburg include the Mirabell Palace, the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Mozarteum College of Music, the High Altar and the Carolino Augusteum Museum. Podcast ingles diario

Those who love nature would definitely love the Hohe Tauern National Park which is touted to be one of the few remaining wilderness areas in the whole of Europe. Covering an area of 1000 square kilometers, the park houses several species of wild and domestic animals in addition to offering visitors plenty of fun activities on the snow covered slopes.

Be sure to visit the Eisriensenwelt Caves which are the largest ice caves in the entire world. Filled with naturally formed ice sculptures that resemble statuettes, figurines, columns, waterfalls and towers, the caves are a pleasure to explore but extremely slippery. Wear warm clothing as the caves remain frozen even in the summer and the temperature inside the cave can drop to 1 degree and below.

Don’t miss out on the spectacular Grossglockner Alpine Road which is touted to be one of the best alpine roads one can drive on. Ending at the tip of the Grossglockner Glacier (3798m), the road offers striking views of the valley floor and the surrounding regions as you drive upwards.

Austria is also home to several unique museums that are renowned the world over for their exquisite exhibits. The Museum of the Future in Linz is a specially designed museum that enables visitors to get a peek into the future with its technologically advanced exhibits and wizardry.  The largest Roman museum in Austria, the Archaeological Museum in Carnuntinum showcases stunning Roman artifacts which include coins, jewelry, arms, exquisite paintings and pictures of worship.

The Gurk Cathedral is a must visit landmark and is standing witness to the architectural excellence of the Roman Empire. The Benedictine Abbey in Admount is a popular cultural center and an extravagant museum. Housing the world famous Baroque Library, the museum showcases extremely rare paintings, books and ancient manuscripts. The Swarovski Kristallwelten Visitor Center can only be called as a crystal palace and is divided into 6 different halls, all decked with spectacular crystals.
