The island is a natural reserve and is home to several animals and birds. These include herons, foxes, wild ponies and woodpeckers. The island is connected to the mainland by the Route 175 Bridge and can be reached by both cars and boats.

Gearhart: Located in Oregaon, Gearhart is a beach town that is known more for its beach side parties, hiking trails and antique shops than for its pristine beaches.
