Its close proximity to Higuey, where the Basilica Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia, a very important religious monument is located, makes this beach even more popular among tourists.

The Arena Gorda Beach

The name Arena Gorda or fat sand in English is derived from the fact that this beach is one of the widest in the region. Beautiful layers of white sand slope gently into the shallow crystal waters.

One can enjoy a stroll with their feet immersed in the warm shallow waters or go for a rejuvenating swim early in the morning.

The Bavaro Beach

Situated just below the El Cortecito Beach, the Bavaro beach is perhaps the best beach in the region. There is a beautiful coral reef just offshore, which a great source for marine biodiversity. The reef keeps a check on the waves and makes this region somewhat like a large natural swimming pool.
