How To Deal With Child Temper Tantrums

There is probably not a single parent who has not experienced the dreaded child temper tantrums. It is usually very loud and frustrating and you are forced to wonder how to put an end to it.

You also feel a sense of urgency to think of a way to avoid a similar situation in the future. But it is difficult to do so because you never knew what started it in the first place.

It’s a familiar scene experienced by every parent. You might be busy in some work but your child needs to put on the clothes which he promptly refuses. The child may not listen to you at all. You can shout at your own will but chances are that he will not even make an effort to wear the clothes. Ultimately you have to force your child to wear the clothes amidst the little fights that he will put up and the screams.

Very few parents realize that when you become angry in these situations then there is a serious threat of such incidents being repeated in the future. She will ignore even the simple orders and gradually she might become a bit stubborn in nature. You may love your child unconditionally but her stubbornness and demands will really try your patience. You may think that you are a slave to her! But don’t fret. These are all common situations. This can be changed if you just follow a few simple techniques. Remember that to a child, reasoning and logic has very little meaning; it’s all about emotions. They will refuse anything that has a negative emotion attached to it. They will accept everything that has a positive emotion attached. But applying this concept in real life situations is a bit tough. But there are three Golden Rules which you can blindly follow in these situations.

1. Do not shout or yell at the child. Chances are that he/she will ignore you or worse, shout back. You can always shout if your child is nearing an immediate danger.

2. Always try to attach positive emotions or feelings to the regular, boring tasks.

3. If still a child is showing signs of tantrum, then try to distract her/him from that situation. It usually helps.
