It includes stone plateau, forest woodland, monsoon rainforest, open savannah-like flood plains with billabong dots, mangrove-fringed estuaries, and even the coastal beaches of the Arafura Sea.

Due to the vastness and diversity of the national park, there are over 1000 plant species, over one-third of all kinds of birds species, and a quarter of all the freshwater fish species in Australia. In addition to that, there are several kinds of reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and thousands of insect species.

The Aborigines have lived in the Kakadu area for about twenty-five thousand years to fifty thousand years. This is also the longest and continuous surviving human culture in the world. The Kakadu National Park is a World Heritage site which has been listed for both cultural and natural reasons. There are about 200,000 visitors a year, making it an incredibly popular and world famous national park. It is extremely acclaimed for its adventurous surroundings.

The best time to visit this national park is from June to August. The weather is pleasant and most suitable for a vacation. If you are the adventurous type, there are excellent camping facilities available in the national park. A trip to this region will surely memorable.
