Travel to Kerala

Snuggled between the pristine waters of the Arabian Sea on the west and the lush Western Ghat Mountains on the east, a beautiful mesh of rivers, forests, exotic wildlife, tranquil stretches of crystalline backwaters and a long shoreline of serene beaches make Kerala a traveler’s delight. Kerala, god’s own country truly lives upto its name because of the serenity, calmness and wonderful nature of the people around. A visit to Kerala has a lot to offer you in terms of entertainment, relaxation of mind and body, and a memorable time with your loved ones.

Relaxation of mind and body:

Massage, meditation, Ayurveda (an ancient form of curing diseases in India) and yoga are some of the proven ways used here to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and calm throughout your vacation and the effects last for several days when you go back home. Some ancient herbs and medicinal plants are mixed and used in the treatment of major ailments like obesity, cholesterol, high blood pressure, constipation, osteoporosis, skin ailments, arthritis, paralysis, sinusitis, migraine, premature ageing and many more.

Head and body massages are also available and performed by experienced masseurs to get rid of your headache and migraines.

Vacations generally mean a break from your daily grind, and Kerala offers you a complete experience with yoga sessions where you can feel the union of your mind, body and soul at some of the centres like Kerala Yoga Centre in Kochi, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Trivandrum, Ayur Health Center Fort, Sivananda Ashram and Holistic Eastern Advance Research Temple (Heart) in Kollam.

Beautiful view from the houseboats:

A visit to Kerala is incomplete without a ride on the houseboats which has a simple yet sophisticated and furnished arrangement of the basic amenities like bathroom, a seating area, attached rooms, sumptuous food prepared by the staff, deck, and an open lounge to feel the warmth of the sun shining in the horizon.

A sumptuous, typical Indian meal awaits you:

The cuisine of Kerala is unique and has a personal Indian touch to it, Kerala style. Though it’s dominated by south Indian food, you can find Continental, Chinese and Punjabi dishes too. But, coming to Kerala and not having the home cooked Kerala food like vegetables with a tinge of coconut sprinkled on it, curry leaf, fish, rice, tamarind, etc is a bad idea.

Some popular Kerala dishes are Rasam (made up of tomatoes and tamarind), Appam (made up of rice), Puttu (made up of rice flour and eaten with bananas), Payasam (a sweet dish made of coconut milk taken after meals, garnished with nuts and cashews) and fish curry.

Star attractions:

Though a little heavier on the pocket, the best way to experience life amidst Kerala’s pristine nature is to once have a glimpse of life in a tree house. A tree house has all the modern facilities like wash basin with good supply of water, shower, telephone, carpeted area for comfortable seating and a veranda. Some of them are as high as 100 feet above ground level, giving you a feeling of closeness with the vast blue sky. Also known as eco-lodge because of the eco-friendly materials used for its construction, it gives an elaborate view of its evergreen rain forests, coffee, tea and pepper plantations.

Entertainment and celebrations:

Talk of entertainment and the biggest highlight of Kerala is the boat race that is frequently organized among different groups of people, with the nearby crowd cheering for them. Be awed by this show of harmony and co-ordination among the people. The boat race shows the true sporting spirit of the people of Kerala. Aranmula Boat Race is organized around the month of onam celebrations where two boats accompany each other and reach their destination together. Rajiv Gandhi Trophy Boat Race is a famous boat race organized in memory of the late Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi.

Kathakali, which focuses on expressions and emotions, was once a form of art for the rulers. Mohiniattam, known for its elaborate costumes and classical steps is performed by women. Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest forms of martial arts is becoming hugely popular today. These are the famous dance forms here. Nicotine Pouch Guide - Everything About Nicotine Pouches

Celebrations take place throughout the year with festivals like Onam, Vishu, Durga Ashtami, Mahanavami, and Vijaya Dasami being celebrated with much fanfare. Foreigners can get a feel of the real India at such times.

So, for a mixed bag of goodies and excitement, fun, cultural heritage, great food and art, come to Kerala.
