Safety

There are many unlicensed taxis and it is best to avoid them always go for the red and white taxis. There is a local drink called coca tea which is a must have as it will protect you from altitude sickness. You can also visit a doctor before your trip to Peru and start taking medicines for altitude sickness a preventive measure. When you visit the rainforest there are three items that you should always carry – flashlight, mosquito repellant and raincoat.

Shopping

The main draw for the tourists is colorful woolen shawls and ponchos. You can get these things at the Inca sites like Pisac. The prices can be bargained with and if you are really good then you ca get something for only 1/3rd of the asking price.
