Romantic Places To Visit In The Andamans

With the fast pace of life, we tend to miss the breath of fresh air soothing our mind and soul, the sound of wind chimes teasing our ears, feel of the beach sand beneath our feet, the touch of the fresh water of the ocean. Nothing better than to take a small vacation, fly away and grab those moments of life worth living for.

If you are looking for a fun-filled, adventurous and romantic vacation, there’s nothing like flying to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is located in Bay of Bengal. Andaman and Nicobar Island is surrounded by many small and big islands which also are its part. Situated at the middle of the ocean, this island is surrounded by lush green water.

Visible sea corals, beautiful and exotic beaches with majestic landscape, all these views are breath taking, compelling our inner self to do nothing more, but to completely unwind ourselves, let go of our fears & anxieties  and sway with the wind of tranquility and enjoy to the core.

How to Reach Andamans

To reach Andaman & Nicobar Islands, there are two modes of travel, by air and by sea. By air, Chennai & Kolkata connects flights to Port Blair, Capital of Andaman. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach Port Blair from both the cities. As per distance measured, Chennai is closest to Port Blair, compared to Kolkata.

If you are planning to travel through sea, you can catch a ship from Vishakhapatnam, Chennai and Kolkata, but be sure to have patience as the time taken by ship to reach from these locations to Port Blair is 50-60 hours. Since Andaman comprises of few small and big islands, there are different means of transport for tourists to reach to those places, like local ferries, sea planes and helicopters.

The travelling cost by ferry from Port Blair to other nearby islands is between Rs.250-400 per head, sea plane is Rs.1500 per head, and that of helicopter is Rs.700-800 per head. Local means of travelling in sub islands are auto rickshaws and buses. Four wheeler and two wheeler are available on rent, keeping in mind the convenience and privacy of the tourists.

What I would suggest as per my experience, the best way to explore the island is to grab a travel guide, rent a vehicle as per your choice and sway off to your lifetime adventurous expedition and enjoy the zeal, the enthusiasm within you.

First and foremost, at Port Blair, the best place to visit is Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park wherein you would have the extraordinary opportunity of exploring the marine lives by activities like snorkelling and scuba diving.
