Have you ever felt that sudden urge to just drop everything then and there and head off to a place where no one can see, call or find you? If yes, then it’s time to put that plan into action. Given below are some of the most remote travel destinations in the entire world.
And when we mean remote, we mean completely isolated zones that have no infrastructure at all, can only be reached by expedition and adventure vessels or small private yachts; and would have no trace of who or what visited them. If you are keen on visiting such a destination that would leave you with nothing but the great outdoors and Mother Nature, take your pick from the list below.
Trip To Remote Destinations
Deception Island
Situated in the southernmost continent of the world, Antarctica, Deception Island is one of those historical places that don’t feature in everyone’s ‘must visit destination’ list. The island is located on the Northern tip of the Antarctica Peninsula and was formerly a whaling base and research center.

Accessible only via a very narrow, winding entryway, the island stands alone today despite offering some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife you can ever see. Visitors to the island can opt for a stroll around the abandoned whaling base (quite scary if you are alone). A few more minutes of walking and you will stumble upon one of the largest Chinstrap Penguin colonies in the region. Another highlight would be a visit to the legendary hanger from where Ben Eielson and Sir Hubert Wilkins set off way back in 1928 on a plane to cross Antarctica for the first time.
Easter Island
Remember watching all those carvings of stoned heads in all those cartoons, movies and television shows. For all their popularity, you would be surprised to note that these stone heads rest in one of the most remote destinations in the world, Easter Island.

Located in Chile, Easter Island was once home to a thriving civilization (the intricate carvings on the stone heads would give you a clue of what they were capable of) which was wiped out completely by the brutal forces of Mother Nature. What remain today are miles upon miles of abandoned green plains with these stone carved heads jutting out from the ground at regular intervals, and a lifeless blue sky that stretches above them for miles on end. Espanola Island
Located as a part of the Galapagos Islands, Espanola Island (also called as Hood Island) is located on the southern tip of the archipelago, probably the reason it is till devoid of any kind of civilization whatsoever even today!
The island enjoyed a unique blend of Spanish and British inhabitants who named it according to their own tastes and traditions (while the Spanish called it Espanola Island, the British called it Hood Island after their Admiral, Samuel Hood).

Today, the island is rarely visited by locals or tourists save for a few adventurous travelers who come here to view the widely known but nearly extinct Blue Footed Booby and the Waved Albatross. The island is also home to a variety of marina animals like iguanas and seals, and offers stunning snorkeling and diving locations for ardent visitors.
Fatu Hiva
Located in the French Polynesia, the Fatu Hiva is one of the most remote archipelagos in the entire world and is second only to Hawaii in this case. Housing some of the most isolated villages, islands, mountains and lagoons you can find on earth, Fatu Hiva is accessible only via a cargo cum passenger ship that brings supplies to the islands once a month. So be prepared to spend some time here should you choose to visit it. Of course, you would have plenty to do while you are here and would never feel bored.

Some of the more interesting activities you can enjoy in Fatu Hiva include hiking to the village of Hanavavae (across a massive mountain), snorkeling or scuba diving in the Bay of Virgins or simply touring abandoned islands.
