The Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun) is one of the best known landmarks in Bangkok and you will get to see its picture in almost every travel guide published on Thailand. The structure is built up one elongated tower surrounded by four smaller towers. According to TAT, the height of the tower is estimated to be at 104m. The Wat Arun was, once, the seat of the Emerald Buddha.

The Temple looks beautiful from across the river and tourists have claimed that the structure actually looks more beautiful from a distance than close up. The grounds are decorated with murals and looks beautiful all around and there is also a main Buddha image.

You will get really impressed by the mythical guardians here. There are a number of steps, albeit steep, to get to the main tower. From here you can get a splendid view of the Chao Phraya River.

Wat Arun looks beautiful in the evening and there are some restaurants opposite this structure. You can get a good view of the temple from any of the restaurants. In Bangkok, sunset is between 6pm and 7pm and the temple looks awesome in the backdrop. Blog de Nutricion, Entrenamiento y Fitness

Wat Arun has a popularity of its own as it is the only known tourist attraction in Thonburi. The temple opens at 8:30 in the morning and closes at 5:30 in the evening. The ferry will charge you 2B for crossing the river and the entrance to the temple will cost 20B. Don’t try to wander in the grounds of the temple as someone might you come to you and show you donation slips of 1000B or 2000B and ask the same amount for you. It is very disconcerting, so it’s best to avoid these situations.

The best way to reach Wat Arun is by the river. At the southwest corner of the Grand Palace, you can get to the boat pier. The boats leave at regular intervals and you can avail of the Chao Phraya River Express boats. There are also a number of canal tours that go near Wat Arun. There are many hotels on the Thonburi side that has many tours to Wat Arun.
