Dublin Travel Guide

When your plan the itinerary of your next vacation, you can choose a trip to Dublin – the capital city of the Republic of Ireland and the sixth most visited city in Europe. You need at least three days to enjoy its superb cultural offerings as well as its friendly pubs, beautiful parks, lively street scenes and fascinating historical sites.

Dublin enjoys a wonderful maritime temperate climate – sunny and breezy for most part. Summer days are longer due to it’s northerly latitude. Ireland’s hospitality is legendary and Dublin is no exception. The city is renowned for its theater and music – both contemporary as well as traditional. The presence of plenty of cafes and bars spilling out onto the streets add to Dublin’s ambience.

Though well-connected by rails and buses, hiring a bicycle is a handy way to get around the city as all attractions are within walking distance. St Stephen’s Green, the Georgian squares, James Joyce Museum, Christchurch Cathedral, Phoenix Park, the Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College and Kilmainham Gaol – the most famous prison of Ireland are some of the city’s tourist hot spots.

No visit to Dublin would be complete without spending time in some of the city’s 1,000-plus pubs. Pub culture is alive and well in Dublin. Expect to find a pub on almost every corner. Here you can also have an Irish beer and test your vocal chords by singing in tune with the traditional folk music. If you want to know the Irish culture, this will be one of the quickest ways to opt for.

Dublin is reputedly one of the most youthful cities in Europe with a vibrant nightlife. Just south of the River Liffey, which cuts through the city, is the Temple Bar area – the best-known area for nightlife. You will find numerous restaurants, pubs and clubs in this area.

Though Dublin is known for its weighty history and the vibrant city life, its biggest asset remains its people who are very helpful and have a cheery outlook.
